Rate Master

"Rate Master" is used in the logistics industry to denote a database or system that stores and manages various rates and pricing information. "Rate Master" contains details of rates for different services, destinations, weight ranges, shipping methods, and other relevant parameters. It serves as a centralised repository for pricing information that allows businesses to calculate costs accurately for their products or consignments.

Prerequisites

Rate Masters can be defined in a unique way for each carrier and hence the contract that you have with the carrier must be informed to the Shipsy team. Shipsy has a mechanism to customise the contract as per your requirement within no time ensuring that your rates are calculated considering all factors and is always accurate.

Overview

The image above is an example of rate contract setup for the carrier Account ARAMEX ACCOUNT. Note that the rates can be configured differently for each account also ensuring that any and all deviations are captured. In the example visible above, the rate is defined on various input parameters like Customer Code, Service Type ID, Courier Destination Type, etc. and the rate is defined in a manner where there is base charge for a minimum weight followed by step based charges for any increase in weight. Once the columns are configured by Shipsy, all you have to do is update the data as per your contract with the carrier.

It's possible that there are multiple kinds of rates like an additional rate for COD orders in excess of the rates defined above. Shipsy allows you to configure these rates as well. Assuming the columns are already configured by Shipsy for the COD rates, you must click on the Rate Type as seen in the image “Chargeable Weight Pricing '' to see a panel expand highlighting all kinds of rates defined.

Upon clicking on Other Charges, we land at a new rate master which will also be used when the criteria matches

Please note that creation of logics for rates and the columns for masters is done by Shipsy as it is different for each client based on their contract with the carrier.
